At Houston Methodist the Software Architect position is responsible for application architecture and system integrity for the assigned area. The Software Architect collaborates with the Managers, Operational Leaders, and Project Managers to coordinate application design, development, and support activities to comply with the architectural plan and the division's strategy. The Software Architect is responsible for the creation and management of workflows, application security, testing, installation processes, reviewing and roadmaping assigned applications/upgrades, and ensuring timely and expert decision making for systems as it aligns with organizational goals. Responsible for setting software development standards across the applicable programming languages, testing, application security, SQL development, and merging development and operations. Other responsibilities include creating new features, technical documents and reference manuals for best practices and design standardization. The Software Architect provides technical direction and serves as a mentor to staff to ensure complexities of the application(s) and workflows are understood and followed. Partners with management to provide technical advice and translates requirements for statements of work and also provides technical oversight for consulting engagements.

Applicants with prior work experience as a Web Architect using .NET, Azure DevOps and SQL will receive priority.

 

Requirements:

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides leadership for Information Technology (IT) and business partners through consultation, education, and planning of application systems.
  • Mentors and builds concensus with all levels of the team through both formal and informal methods concerning the application build process.


SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Designs, plans, and implements major system installations, updates, and upgrades including task delegation, programming, vendor consultation, testing, and deployment.
  • Works directly with customers on design of optimization requests for development plans and maintenance input on application installations, upgrades, and changes.


QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Creates custom solutions and advanced configuration options to solve operational or workflow issues.
  • Drives change management and quality control processes to ensure system integrity across all assigned applications and technical layers of the architecture and ensures integrity of applications.
  • Manages appropriate authorization of production moves and maintains documentation audit trail.
  • Serves as technical leader for multiple large scale projects.


FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinates and provides problem resolution, technical analyses, work plans, workflow documentation, and progress reports on assigned projects.
  • Drives innovative opportunities within the confines of budget and scope of efforts.


GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads technical specifications and recommendations related to high traffic public websites.
  • Establishes and supports implementation of best practices surrounding content management system-related activities (e.g., solution design, application support, development, user request management, change control, application access control, etc.).
  • Evaluates future opportunities to improve the application.
  • Presents opportunities of innovation and road map of application to stakeholders to align with IT strategies.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field


WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Ten years of progressive IT application development experience to include the requirements below for each area
  • Web Architect: Eight years expertise in web applications, including six years HTML/CSS/JavaScript. At least five on Microsoft ASP.NET platform, five years Team Foundation Server/Azure Devops/ two years Build Automation and two years Azure cloud, or two years developing and one year architecting in AWS Cloud
  • Sitecore Architect: Web Architect Requirements and four years Sitecore to include three years Coveo or Solr search engines
  • Mobile Architect: Primary Architect / Developer for two medium to large mobile applications
  • Intelligent Automation Architect: Eight years Java enterprise development, to include five years of database (SQL/Server preferred), four years of Workfusion, and two years as primary solution designer

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • MCSA - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (Microsoft) -- If Web Architect OR
  • MCSD - Microsoft Certified Solutions Dev (Microsoft) -- If Web Architect OR
  • MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (Microsoft) -- If Web Architect OR
  • Web Architect Certifications as above and Sitecore Certified version 8 minimum -- If Sitecore Architect OR
  • Workfusion Certification required -- For Intelligent Automation Architect


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - PREFERRED

  • Azure Solutions Architect (Specify) -- If Web Architect OR
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect -- If Web Architect OR
  • AWS Certified Developer -- If Web Architect OR
  • Android Certification (Specify) -- If Mobile Architect OR
