At Houston Methodist, the Foundation Program Manager position is responsible for partnering with development officers to implement day to day management of a comprehensive major gift donor moves management program in support of the Foundation overall fundraising strategy/goals. Position will coordinate and facilitate donor portfolio review meetings, maintain and provide reports on key performance indicators, and provide guidance to development officers on portfolio optimization, prioritization, and strategic planning. Foundation Program Manager also will partner with Foundation leadership to establish regular reviews of the overall moves management strategy and recommend continuous improvements to enhance donor engagement, staff efficiency, and fundraising outcomes. Prior knowledge of major giving strategy and moves management is not necessary, training will be provided.
This position will lead, design, guide and execute strategies while managing relationships internally with foundation and hospital leadership and externally with clients, partners and vendors. Success in the Program Manager position includes partnering with key operations stakeholders to design and successfully execute program elements that ensure senior leadership engagement and governance of the system strategy. This position focuses on planning and design implementation, measurement and maintenance of desired outcomes with minimal supervision, developing meaningful reports to support business activities, and communicating professionally and persuasively verbally and in writing. The Program Manager position works independently and collaboratively to proactively identify problems and creative solutions to address requirements, while serving as role model and mentor to junior team members and partnering with vendors in assigned area of responsibility on data, process solutions and advisement. This position is responsible for various administrative and operational functions, and financial stewardship while providing education and technical expertise related to the program for successful implementation and sustainability.
Requirements:
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Facilitates the promotion of teamwork within and between departments; participates and/or leads and facilitates department process improvements as needed
- Leads projects and coordinates with key stakeholders and others to ensure department timelines, deliverables and budgets are met. Serves as primary resource/subject matter expert to the development staff
- Provides timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem. Serves as mentor and role model for junior staff
- Effectively communicates project initiatives, timelines and change management activities
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Partners with Management to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of assigned program, monitors progress and achievement of objectives, and identifies corrective actions as indicated. Provides leadership with decision support needed to make informed strategic decisions
- Works closely across Foundation to support strategic moves management for contributor/prospective contributor engagement
- Works with Foundation staff to produce monthly campaign progress reports and coordinate dissemination to the campaign committees, councils, boards, physician leaders and other institutional leadership, as applicable
- Participates on internal committees and task forces as assigned, ensuring that critical objectives are clearly explained and action items are appropriately delegated. Follows up on action items as necessary to ensure completion of assignments
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides management with analysis and performance metrics for use in assessments and identifying areas for improvement for assigned programs. Establishes methods to track programs and/or initiative success and gathers feedback for future reference
- Employs a proactive approach in the optimization of donor and department expectations by monitoring and improving the established workflow, using peer-to-peer accountability, and identifying solutions via collaboration. Adopts lean principles in driving process improvements. Role models situational awareness
- Partners across Foundation to leverage current resources in order to ensure that philanthropic and donor-centric message is present and consistent in all material, communications, and/or initiatives, both internally and externally to promote goals
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Monitors and leverages resources and recommends strategies to maximize philanthropic funding opportunities. Ensures timely submission of invoices, tracks and adheres to budgets for assigned programs
- Ensures cost effective measures are taken when for donor educational and/or office related resources
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Proactively manages own professional development. Completes and updates the individual development plan (IDP). Supports team career discussions
- Builds upon foundational knowledge of major gift fundraising for healthcare and seeks opportunities to strengthen skill set within assigned unit
- Assesses and analyzes present and future needs, best evidence, trends, challenges, and opportunities related to department strategic goals

Qualifications:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree required
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Seven years experience in communications, development, media relations or marketing, three years of which must be in project management/coordination/event planning.
- Experience in healthcare fundraising/development preferred.
- Experience in working with institutional leadership and staff

- Experience with fundraising campaigns or fund development preferred.
- Editing experience and/or familiarity with the AP style guidelines.
- Flexibility and responsiveness in performing multiple projects simultaneously. skills; ability to prioritize tasks and follow-through to meet expectations of multiple constituencies. Successful track record in project management a plus
