Houston Methodist is pleased to announce that our President and CEO, Dr. Marc L. Boom, has been appointed Chair-elect Designate of the American Hospital Association (AHA) Board of Trustees. In this prestigious role, Dr. Boom will become the AHA Chair in 2026, making him the national organization’s top-elected official, serving over 5,000 of America’s hospitals and health systems.

Dr. Boom’s journey with Houston Methodist began in 2012, and our eight-hospital system has flourished under his leadership. With over 32,000 employees and 2,500 beds, Houston Methodist has earned recognition for our unparalleled clinical care, patient experience and innovative research. At Houston Methodist, we are proud to be led by such visionaries.

The AHA chose Dr. Boom based on his impressive leadership skills, innovative thinking and collaborative approach. In addition to his new role with the AHA, Houston Methodist celebrates Dr. Boom for his recent feats, including receiving the 2024 Stephen L. Klineberg Award from Rice University for outstanding leadership in health care.

Dr. Boom expressed his profound gratitude for this opportunity. “I am honored to be chosen as the Chair-elect Designate of the AHA board.” He continued, “Together, we can lead the AHA into the future, advocating for all of our nation’s hospitals.”
