Houston Methodist has exciting news to share!

Last week, U.S. News & World Report named Houston Methodist Hospital in its prestigious 2024-25 Honor Roll list, for the sixth consecutive year and eighth time overall. Houston Methodist proudly remains the No. 1 hospital in Texas for its 13th successive year, and unlike last year, there is no longer a tie for first place!

Only 20 hospitals out of 5,000 evaluated for 2024-25’s rankings made the Honor Roll, representing the top hospitals nationally for excellence in multiple areas of care. Houston Methodist Hospital is also one of the top 50 hospitals ranked in 10 adult specialties, and rated ‘High Performing’ in all 20 procedures and conditions that U.S. News evaluates.

Below is a breakdown of Houston Methodist Hospital’s 2024-25 specialty area rankings (listed in alphabetical order). Eight specialties made the top 20, with three in the top 10:

  • Cancer – No. 18
  • Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery – No. 15
  • Diabetes and Endocrinology – No. 6
  • Gastroenterology/GI Surgery – No. 7
  • Geriatrics – No. 18
  • Neurology/Neurosurgery – No. 13
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology – No. 14
  • Orthopedics – No. 23
  • Pulmonology and Lung Surgery – No. 8
  • Urology – No. 25

Additionally, four of our community hospitals were ranked by U.S. News this year, both statewide and on a local scale:

  • Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital – Ranked No. 8 in Texas and No. 5 in the Houston metro area
  • Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital Ranked No. 9 in Texas and No. 6 in the Houston metro area
  • Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital – Tied for No. 18 in Texas and tied for No. 7 in the Houston metro area
  • Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital – Tied for No. 23 in Texas and ranked No. 9 in the Houston metro area

Congratulations to our dedicated teams on this remarkable accomplishment. Marc L. Boom, MD, Houston Methodist’s chief executive officer, expressed his gratitude in a recent statement celebrating Houston Methodist’s staff: “I want to thank each of you for maintaining such a high level of excellence.” He continued, “I always say we never chase awards, but if we focus on the fundamentals, awards follow. This recognition symbolizes how you put safety, quality, service and innovation at the forefront.”
