Houston Methodist is excited to announce that our system received another honorable recognition in 2023. In collaboration with Fortune, the annual PINC AI ‘15 Top Health Systems’ study identifies the nation’s best-performing health systems, weighing in factors such as overall clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and the patient experience. The final list honors five systems per size category–small, medium, and large health systems. Out of the 361 healthcare organizations assessed across the US, Houston Methodist is proud to be named #4 in the large health system category.
Today, roughly two-thirds of American hospitals belong to a health system, up from 10% in 1970, and those systems have inevitably become more prominent and increasingly diversified providers of care. According to this year’s PINC AI analysis, inpatient mortality rates were down 20.8% for winning systems compared to non-winning organizations. Rates of healthcare-acquired infections were also 20.7% lower for 2023’s winners, and average hospital stays were shorter for each ‘Top’ health system awardee.
At Houston Methodist, we are proud to receive such a reputable honor, especially because health systems do not apply for the ‘15 Top Health Systems’ selection process, and winners do not pay to market their honor. This type of achievement does not happen overnight and cannot be accomplished alone–it is a unified team effort.
