Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center is ranked No. 1 in Houston and in Texas (for the sixth year in a row) on U.S. News & World Report’s 2017-18 rankings, which were unveiled Aug. 8th. Two other Houston Methodist hospitals rank as one of the best in the Bayou City: Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, and Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital.

“Being named the best in Texas is a tremendous achievement for our physicians, nurses and employees who give the best of themselves every day to our patients," said Dr. Marc Boom, president and CEO of Houston Methodist, in a statement. “Year after year, this confirms that we are leading medicine, providing our community the highest quality medical care, research and education for almost 100 years.”

To compile the rankings, U.S. News compared more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. Hospitals were primarily judged on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
