Houston Methodist typically selects one to three administrative fellows for the administrative fellowship. This varies based on the applicant pool and the caliber of the candidates.
It varies with each fellow’s experience. Fellows complete a mix of long-term projects and short-term projects in order to give them the opportunity to work on a project from beginning to end.
The Houston Methodist Administrative Fellowship has been in existence since 1971. The fellowship is very well known throughout the organization and senior leaders actively welcome fellows to join them in meetings and collaborate on projects. In fact, many of our executives are former fellows and are strongly committed to the fellowship program or the value a fellowship has on a career.
This truly depends on a myriad of factors such as the qualifications and experiences that the fellow had before the fellowship, the positions available, and the career path that the fellow has determined that he/she wants to pursue. The preceptor and CEOs work with fellows to identify opportunities available post-fellowship. Some examples of post-fellowship positions include project manager, director, and administrative director.
Fellows receive support from their preceptor, senior advisors, past fellows, and numerous other managers throughout the organization. They provide personal guidance in the fellowship experience as well as in career selection.
