  • Clinical Research Fellow: At Houston Methodist, the Clinical Research Fellow position is responsible for performing clinical research of a complex nature; plans, executes and completes clinical research projects under the supervision/direction of a Principal Investigator. This position provides structured education and first-hand applied experiences in such topics as epidemiology, biostatistics, clinical pharmacology, and biomedical ethics/regulation and a certificate of fellowship is granted to the Clinical Research Fellow upon satisfactory completion of the fellowship program.
  • Graduate Research Fellow - Stipend: At Houston Methodist, the Graduate Research Fellow-Stipend position is responsible for conducting advanced and innovative research projects in biomedical sciences, which typically results in publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals with them listed as the first author. The work for this position may be in a laboratory setting or may consist of computer work that supports the department's research mission. The Graduate Research Fellow-Stipend position works independently under general faculty supervision to conduct literature research, research hypothesis generation, research planning, experiments, data analysis and manuscript and thesis writing, as required by typical graduate degree programs.
  • Manager Clinical Trials: At Houston Methodist, the Manager Clinical Trials position is responsible for managing complex research projects that may involve single or multiple sites and/or research teams conducting research activities. This position directly supervises research staff to ensure effective planning, oversight and coordination of clinical research projects. The Manager Clinical Trials position monitors progress and performance of all projects to include quality of services, timelines, financial viability, compliance with federal, state and/or other regulations, laws and guidelines of Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI). This position also provides guidance to department and HMRI leadership on relevant clinical trial issues and development.
  • Research Assistant: At Houston Methodist, the Research Assistant position is responsible for providing technical research support in performing research experiments. Work could be performed in either a laboratory or office environment. Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Assistant assists in the organization, tabulation and analysis of data. This position maintains records of data collected.
  • Research Associate: At Houston Methodist, the Research Associate position is responsible for conducting laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines. This position provides technical research skills and establishes test methods and procedures under the direction of Department Chairperson or Scientist (Faculty). The Research Associate position evaluates results of (or response to) process; summarizes data.
  • Research Coordinator: At Houston Methodist, the Research Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of research protocols as well as assessing and determining qualification of patients for research studies. This position ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants.
  • Research Engineer: At Houston Methodist, the Research Engineer position is responsible for providing technical support for laboratory-based research. This position, under the direction of a Principle Investigator (PI), may support bench techniques, working with laboratory animals, scientific writing, and data analysis. The Research Engineer position may oversee equipment calibration, certification and maintenance agreements as well as operate a variety of laboratory equipment. This position may participate in the development or establishment of new laboratory procedures, including biological assays, quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Research Scientist: At Houston Methodist, the Research Scientist position is responsible for engaging in research or research-related services to the institution, e.g. direction of research core facilities. The position is limited to one that is primarily supportive in nature which includes scientists who are not on an independent path in terms of external grant funding and publications, and individuals whose job is to serve and support Houston Methodist. The expectation for faculty Research Scientist position on the Research Track is that full salary support must be maintained by the supervising faculty member(s) which can be constituted from extramural funding, philanthropic funding, start up support, or any combination thereof.
  • Scientific Writer: At Houston Methodist, the Scientific Writer position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks including preparing laboratory and clinical studies and documents for submission to journals and granting agencies. The position facilitates the gathering of noteworthy achievements in science within the department and helps translate and disseminate that information through feature articles, news releases, newsletters, social media and other communications venues.
  • Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist: At Houston Methodist, the Senior (Sr.) Regulatory Compliance Specialist position is responsible for leading, coordinating and performing study specific regulatory processes such as local IRB submissions or external IRB submissions in compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy and procedure developed by Houston Methodist Research Institute Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). This position for Department of Medicine will also work with industry sponsors’ or grant funder’s regulatory personnel for study regulatory start up and study regulatory maintenance throughout the study. This position communicates closely with the study teams including research coordinators, clinical trial managers, and principal investigators, sponsor partners, IRB staff, and regulatory office staff. Attention to detail, ability to navigate multiple projects and good time management are important in the success of this position. The Sr Regulatory Compliance Specialist position maintains documentation for clinical research studies, case report forms and study and regulatory files. Under minimal supervision from the Manager or Director, this position identifies problem-solving issues of moderate to complex scope. The Sr Regulatory Compliance Specialist position contributes directly to internal departmental monitoring and research education as identified by the Manager or Director.
